Lynx service
Why Lynx grills are repairable for 25 years.
Lynx Professional Grills are made in Compton, California. Independent ownership, no parent corporation. The grill you bought in 2010 has the same cast brass burner architecture as the grill on the showroom floor today. When something fails on a Lynx, the part exists. When the part doesn't exist anymore (rare), the upgrade kit exists. This is why Beverly Hills, Bel Air, and Malibu kitchens that were built in 2009 still have working Lynx grills in 2026.
Our techs service every Lynx Professional Series ever made: original E (2007 onwards: L27, L30, L36, L42, L54), F and G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q. Plus Sedona by Lynx (the mid-tier line, 2013 onwards), ProSear models, Trident infrared models (ATR series), and the current product line.
BHGS #A49573. Same-day across LA, OC, Ventura. Lynx parts on the van for the most common failures. EPA 608 Universal certified (#1346255700410) for Lynx outdoor refrigerator work (LM24REFL series).
Series-aware diagnosis
What fails on Lynx, by series.
Lynx maintained model numbers (L27, L30, L36, L42, L54) for decades while changing internal designs across series. Two L36 grills built five years apart can have completely different ignition systems. The serial number is what tells us which generation we're working on.
Series E (Professional, 2007 to 2014, battery-operated rotary spark)
Original Professional series. Uses a 9-volt battery in a battery tray (OEM part 80489) plus rotary spark generators per zone. The most common failure: dead 9V battery. Owner doesn't know there's a battery. We replace it, grill works. We see this multiple times per week. Other common failures on E-series at 12+ years: rotary spark generator wear (2-output and 3-output versions), electrode wire chafing, brass burner pinholes from coastal salt air.
Series F, G, H (Professional, 2010 to 2015)
Transition years. Most still battery-operated rotary spark, some moved to glow coil ignition (J-series feature that crossed back). Burner architecture mostly stable: cast brass main burners, ProSear infrared sear burners on PSR variants.
Series J (Professional, 2014 to 2016) glow coil ignition introduced
J-series brought glow coil hot surface ignition to Lynx Professional. Glow coil components are now discontinued. When a J-series grill comes in with ignition failure, we typically recommend the upgrade kit to convert to current hot surface ignition. Upgrade kit installation runs $400 to $650 depending on grill size. The grill then uses 110V supply, not battery.
Series K, L (2016 onwards) hot surface ignition
Glow plug hot surface ignition standard. 110V-powered (no batteries on the main grill, though the ProSear backup ignition still uses 9V on some configurations). When ignition fails, it's almost always the hot surface igniter element itself (replacement $80 to $180 depending on zone) or the spark module (when present, $180 to $280).
Series M, N, P, Q (current production)
Continued hot surface ignition with refinements. Current Lynx flagship. Component-level repair excellent. Lynx maintains long parts availability.
Sedona by Lynx (2013 onwards)
Mid-tier line. Uses 4-output 9V spark module (different architecture than Professional). Common failures: spark module (OEM 31161 or 31162), micro-switch in burner valves (Sedona main burner valves have integrated micro-switches that pit at 6 to 8 years), Sedona ProSear burner replacement.
Trident / ATR series (Infrared)
Lynx Trident infrared burners. The Trident burner itself (OEM 33478 for 27 inch and 36 inch models, runs $670+) lasts 8 to 12 years. When it fails, we replace with OEM. Hot point electrode (OEM 33556) replacement is the more common Trident-specific repair.
Common scenarios
Top Lynx repairs we see in our 5-county territory.
In rough order of frequency on Lynx service calls:
- 9V battery dead in battery tray (E-series Professional, Sedona). $5 part, 5 minutes, $120 diagnostic charge if that's all it is. We don't bill labor for battery swaps.
- Hot surface igniter failure (L, M, N, P, Q series, current Sedona). Element burnt out. Continuity test confirms. Replacement $80 to $180 depending on zone. 30 to 45 minute job.
- Brass burner pinhole (any series, 8 to 12 years coastal). Corrosion-driven pinholes. We replace at first sign. Running with a pinhole burner risks manifold damage. Cast brass burner OEM 11012 ($433+ for 27/36 size). Per-zone replacement.
- Manifold valve seizure (any series, 6+ years inactive). Burner valve seized open or partial. Disassemble, clean, lubricate, retest. $200 to $380 typical.
- Spark module failure (E, F, G, H series at 10+ years; Sedona at 7+ years). Module degraded. Replacement $180 to $280.
- Rotary spark generator (E, F, G series). Knob-driven spark mechanism wears. Replacement straightforward.
- Drip tray / grease tray rust (any series, 8+ years). Stainless drip tray develops rust spots, eventually rust-through. Replacement $480 to $740 depending on size (OEM 31494 for L36).
- Rotisserie motor seizure. Lynx 1.5hp rotisserie motor lasts 10 to 15 years, then bearings seize. Replacement $290 to $380.
- Smoker box assembly issues. Wood chip ignition not working on Lynx Smoker grills (90074 assembly). Combination of regulator and burner issues.
- Light switch harness corrosion (LBQ, 2006+). Outdoor grill light switch corrodes from moisture. Switch harness replacement (OEM 80206) $61.
Real repairs
Composite stories from the route.
Five Lynx jobs from the past 90 days. Models, symptoms, diagnosis, parts, time, total. Names omitted; the technical scenarios are typical of what we see weekly.
Beverly Hills, Lynx L36PSR-1 (Series H, 2014 install)
Owner called Tuesday morning, no spark on left and center zones. Tech checked battery: 9V tested at 6.2V (dead). Replaced battery, both zones lit immediately. Total: $120 diagnostic, no parts charge. 25-minute call. Customer's previous tech had quoted "spark module replacement, $400 plus labor."
Malibu, Lynx L48ASR (Series N, 2019 install)
Center burner dim, others normal. Tested gas pressure at manifold: normal. Inspected burner: small pinhole near front-right port (salt-air corrosion at 7 years, accelerated for coastal). Replaced cast brass burner (OEM 11012). While there, inspected other zones: no pinholes yet. Total: $120 plus $470 part plus 1 hour = $695.
Pacific Palisades, Sedona by Lynx L500PSR (2017 install)
No spark on either main burner. Tested battery (9V): good. Tested 4-output spark module: 2 outputs dead. Replaced spark module (OEM 31162). Tested ignition cycle, working. Total: $120 plus $215 part plus 45 minutes = $445.
Bel Air, Lynx L42 with Trident (Series P, 2020 install)
Trident infrared zone not lighting. Tested: hot point electrode failed. Replaced OEM 33556 hot point electrode. Tested ignition. Working. Total: $120 plus $145 part plus 30 minutes = $315.
Newport Beach, Lynx L54 Professional (Series J, 2015 install)
Multiple ignition issues, glow coil system. Recommended upgrade kit conversion to current hot surface ignition (glow coil parts discontinued, future repairs would be increasingly difficult). Installed upgrade kit, converted to 110V supply, tested all zones. Total: $120 plus $580 kit plus 2.5 hours = $890. Customer prefers reliability of current architecture.
Scope
What we do for Lynx, and what we don't.
We service:
- All Lynx Professional Series (E through Q)
- Sedona by Lynx (all configurations)
- ProSear infrared sear burners
- Trident infrared (ATR series)
- Lynx Smoker grills
- Lynx side burners (LSB1-1, LSB2-1)
- Lynx Cocktail Pro Sear (LCB1-1)
- Lynx warming drawers (LWD30)
- Lynx outdoor refrigerators (LM24REFL, EPA 608 required, we have it)
We don't do: new Lynx grill installation (warranty installs go through authorized dealer network, and we partner with several Lynx dealers in SoCal for new install referrals); custom Lynx cabinetry modification (metal fabricator trade, not appliance repair); Lynx grill relocation that involves new gas line plumbing (plumber trade).
If your grill is under Lynx warranty (typical 25-year warranty on Professional brass burners, 5-year warranty on most other components), we recommend going through Lynx's authorized dealer network first. Warranty repairs need to be documented through them. We're happy to assess and tell you if the failure is warranty-eligible.

Why us for Lynx
What separates our Lynx service from general grill repair.
- Series-aware diagnosis. An L36 from 2010 has different ignition than an L36 from 2018. We identify by serial number first, then diagnose. Most repair shops don't.
- 9V batteries on the van. The single most common Lynx failure on E-series and Sedona. We replace them at no labor charge.
- OEM parts only. No aftermarket on Lynx. The brass burners, infrared electrodes, and ignition components don't have legitimate aftermarket equivalents. We source through Lynx's authorized distributor network.
- Coastal salt expertise. Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Newport Beach service calls are about 35% of our Lynx work. We know the corrosion patterns and stock accordingly.
- Glow coil upgrade path. J-series owners with discontinued glow coil parts: we install the conversion kit to current 110V hot surface ignition.
- EPA 608 for Lynx outdoor refrigerators. The LM24REFL series requires refrigerant certification. We have it.
- BHGS #A49573 plus BBB A+. Verifiable with the state and the bureau.
- Same-day across LA, Orange County, Ventura. Next-day for Rancho Cucamonga and Temecula.
FAQ
Lynx grill repair questions.
My Lynx grill won't spark on any zone. What's wrong?
Nine times out of ten on Professional E-series and Sedona models, it's the 9-volt battery in the battery tray (OEM part 80489 on Professional). Most owners don't know there's a battery. Replace it (about $5), works again. If it's not the battery, the next most likely is the spark module. On L-series and newer (L, M, N, P, Q) which use 110V hot surface ignition, the failure is usually the hot surface igniter element itself.
How long do Lynx Professional grills last?
With proper repair and maintenance, 18 to 25 years is normal. Cast brass burners are the heart of these grills and they have a 25-year manufacturer warranty for a reason. Other components (igniters, drip trays, valves) need attention every 7 to 12 years. The grill outlasts most kitchens.
Can you fix a 2014 Lynx J-series with glow coil ignition?
Yes, but the glow coil parts are discontinued. We install the upgrade kit to convert to current hot surface ignition (110V powered). Total upgrade runs $700 to $950 depending on grill size. Worth it because the grill will then have 10+ more years of reliable operation with parts availability.
My Lynx grill is 14 years old. Worth fixing or should I replace?
Depends on what failed. Battery, igniter, single burner: easy fix, worth it (the grill still has 10+ years left). Multi-component cascading failures (ignition plus burners plus valves all going): that's a replace conversation. We diagnose and tell you straight.
Do you service Sedona by Lynx?
Yes. Sedona has different ignition architecture than Professional series (4-output 9V spark module instead of rotary or hot surface). Common Sedona-specific failures: spark module (OEM 31161 or 31162) and burner valve micro-switches. We carry these parts on the van.
Do you do Lynx warranty repairs?
We can diagnose and assess if the failure is warranty-eligible. Lynx warranty work needs to be documented through authorized dealers, so we partner with Lynx dealers for warranty paperwork. We can also do the repair on cash-pay basis if you prefer not to wait for warranty processing.
What's your warranty on Lynx repairs?
Ninety days parts and labor on every repair we perform. If the same component fails within 90 days, we replace it free. BHGS #A49573 and BBB A+ accredited.
