About this service
Miele's reference dishwasher deserves reference-level service.
The Miele G 7000 is the reference standard in residential dishwashers. AutoDos with the PowerDisk cartridge dispenses detergent automatically for each cycle, no pods, no measuring, no residue around the dispenser. AquaStop provides full leak protection with both a primary shut-off at the inlet hose and a secondary float sensor in the base pan that cuts power if water reaches the cabinet floor. The 3D MultiFlex middle rack adjusts in three axes, height, width, depth, to fit baking sheets and oversized serving pieces that don't fit in conventional dishwashers. AutoOpen automatically cracks the door open at cycle end for residual-heat drying. QuickPowerWash finishes a full wash-rinse-dry in 58 minutes when you need glasses back for a dinner party.
All of that engineering means two things for service. First: the diagnostic protocols are detailed and the fault codes are specific, an F11 tells us it's a drainage fault with a defined sequence of suspect components, not a generic "dishwasher not working." Second: the platform is complex enough that generic dishwasher technicians routinely miss the real cause. We see second-opinion calls where a prior tech swapped a drain pump on an F11 code when the actual issue was a blocked filter combination (free fix) or a jammed non-return valve ball in the sump (30-minute cleanup). Reading the codes correctly cuts service time and saves the owner money.
Most of our Miele dishwasher calls come from districts where Miele was specified as the integrated panel-ready dishwasher, Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, West Hollywood, and the Wilshire Corridor on LA's Westside; Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, and Irvine in Orange County; Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks in Ventura; and Murrieta and Temecula estate kitchens in Riverside County. These are units 3-to-12 years old, past the 2-year Miele USA warranty, running well overall but occasionally needing component-level service. Almost all our Miele dishwasher calls close same-visit.

Still common across Southern California kitchens installed during the 2015-era luxury remodel boom, Westside LA, Newport Beach, Westlake Village, and Temecula corridor. Parts mostly available but some legacy control boards require longer lead time. 10+ year old Futura units are typically on original pumps and motors, economics favor repair for any component-level failure.
Integrated PG8000 professional series (commercial dishwashers sometimes installed in residential butler's pantries), hidden LED panel, codes appear only with door ajar, reset via Start + Programme hold. We service residential installs of PG units case-by-case.
Miele fault codes
Reading Miele dishwasher fault codes, decoder table
Miele dishwashers display specific F-codes that map directly to component faults. The OEM service manual structure is well-documented; we carry the full reference on every call. Here's the decoder for the most common codes you'll see on G 7000, G 5000 Discovery, and G 6000 units.
| Code | Meaning & common cause |
|---|---|
| F11 | Drainage fault, filter blocked, drain pump impeller broken, non-return valve jammed, drain hose kinked |
| F12 / F13 / F14 / F15 | Water inlet fault, stopcock closed, inlet filter clogged, inlet hose kinked, water pressure below 0.3 bar (4.4 psi) |
| F18 / F19 | Inlet-related secondary faults |
| F24 | Heater relay error, relay on control board malfunctioning, wiring degraded, heating element open |
| F25 / F26 | Heater-related secondary faults |
| F33 / F36 / F38 | Spray arm blocked, dish obstruction, water flow restriction |
| F40 / F42 / F47 | Temperature sensor / NTC faults |
| F51 / F52 / F53 | Heater pressure switch, F52 is excess foam from wrong detergent, F51/F53 are circulation pump pressure issues |
| F63 / F67 / F68 / F69 | Circulation pump faults, pump motor, impeller, or start relay |
| F70 | Waterproof/AquaStop triggered, base pan sensor detected water, full leak-protection cutoff engaged |
| F78 / F79 | Electrical supply fault, frequency/voltage anomaly, often from shared dimmer circuits in luxury homes across our service area |
| F84 / F85 / F86 / F87 / F88 | Various control / communication faults |
| F170 / F171 / F172 / F173 / F177 / F179 | TwinDos / AutoDos dosing faults (G 7xxx from 2023+) |
| F600 / F601 / F607 | AutoDos dispensing outlet fault, PowerDisk seating, outlet blocked, or dispensing motor failed |
Power-cycle reset (turn off at breaker for 60 seconds) clears transient codes. Persistent codes after a full cycle reset indicate an actual hardware fault and need service. About 40% of codes we see resolve at the filter/cleanup level without parts; 45% need a single component replacement; 15% need control board work.
Common failures
The nine things that break on a Miele dishwasher
1. Won't drain, F11 flashing, water pools in bottom
Drainage fault. Diagnostic order: remove lower spray arm, lift out filter combination, rinse under running water (fixes 50% of F11 immediately, no parts). If code persists: inspect drain pump impeller for debris or broken blades ($185-$285 replacement), check non-return valve ball in the sump for jamming (free cleanup), straighten drain hose behind the unit, test drain pump motor for continuity. We carry G 7000 and G 5000 drain pumps on the truck.
2. Won't fill with water, F12/F13/F14/F15 flashing
Water inlet fault. Check stopcock at the supply (often behind a cabinet kick panel), clean the inlet-hose mesh filter (free), verify water pressure at the tap (must be above 0.3 bar / 4.4 psi, LA homes with tankless water heaters sometimes run low). If all external paths check fine, the inlet valve (AquaStop) is failed, replacement $245-$345. On newer G 7000 units with AquaStop, the valve and the flood sensor are integrated; we verify the sensor hasn't tripped before swapping the valve.
3. F52, excess foam, cycle interrupted
Wrong detergent. Common causes: regular dish soap used by mistake, generic combi tablets without activating Combi Tablet Program in the menu, AutoDos PowerDisk plus additional manual detergent (double-dosing). Fix: turn off, power cycle, select Combi Tablet Program in the menu if using tablets, or remove the extra detergent. No parts needed. Hard-water districts (most of Southern California, particularly the Inland Empire) sometimes trigger F52 from rinse-aid over-dosing, recalibrate rinse aid dosing setting via the menu.
4. F24, heater relay error, no hot wash
Dishes come out cold and coated with detergent residue because water never heated. Cause: heater relay on the control board (most common), wiring harness to the heating element, or heating element open-circuit. Heating element tests 20-30 ohms good. On G 7000 the heater relay is board-mounted, if it's the relay, we replace the main control board ($580-$820). Heating element alone is $285-$420. We test both before ordering.
5. F70, AquaStop triggered, unit locked out
Water detected in the base pan. AquaStop's leak protection is working as designed, it cut power to prevent flooding. Root cause is almost always a real leak: degraded door gasket ($145-$215), circulation pump seal ($385-$540 for pump, or gasket alone if catchable), loose hose clamp inside the cabinet, or cracked sump housing (rare, $380+ replacement). We find the leak before resetting AquaStop, otherwise it re-triggers on the next cycle.
6. F600/F601, AutoDos dispensing fault (G 7000 only)
PowerDisk system fault. In order: reseat the PowerDisk (40% of these codes resolve with reseat), replace near-empty PowerDisk (owner typically has spares, Miele USA or Amazon ~$25 each), clean dispensing outlet with warm water and soft cloth (hardened detergent residue blocks flow), test AutoDos motor ($245-$340 replacement). We diagnose which before ordering the motor.
7. F79, electrical fault, won't start
Electrical supply anomaly, frequency or voltage outside spec. In LA luxury kitchens, we see this most often when the dishwasher shares a circuit or adjacent circuit with Lutron Caseta or similar dimmer-controlled lighting. Dimmer phase-cut noise couples into the Miele control and it rejects startup. Fixes: verify dishwasher is on a dedicated 20A circuit (code requirement anyway), relocate interfering dimmer, or install a line filter. On confirmed isolation fixes, F79 doesn't recur.
8. Dishes not drying, AutoOpen not opening, or wet after cycle
Three possibilities. AutoOpen latch motor failed, door doesn't crack open at cycle end. Turbidity sensor drifted, dishwasher thinks load is cleaner than it is, skips extended heat phase. Heater working but thermostat drifted, water not getting hot enough. AutoOpen latch $185, turbidity sensor $185-$265, thermostat $135. On G 7000 F28 drying codes are sometimes resolved via Miele@mobile app firmware update (no parts, no service visit), we check firmware version first.
9. Circulation pump noise, grinding, whining (F63/F67/F68/F69)
Circulation pump end-of-life. Grinding noise starts quiet and gets progressively worse over weeks. Sometimes preceded by reduced wash effectiveness (spray arms not spinning strongly). Pump replacement $385-$540, 90-minute job. On 10+ year old Miele dishwashers, we check the motor mount and impeller shaft alongside the pump, worn bearings in the host motor accelerate new-pump wear if not addressed.
Southern California context
Why Southern California hard water matters for Miele dishwasher service
SoCal tap water runs hard across all five counties we serve, typically 200-350 ppm calcium and magnesium in LA Westside districts, 250-400 ppm across most of Orange County, and 300-450+ ppm in the Inland Empire (Rancho Cucamonga, Temecula, Riverside) where Colorado River and groundwater blends drive hardness still higher. All of that is well above the 80-120 ppm that most European dishwashers were originally designed for. Miele handles this better than most brands because they include a water softener (the salt reservoir uses ion-exchange resin to soften water before it enters the wash cycle), but the softener has to be set correctly for local hardness. Many SoCal homeowners never adjust it from the factory default of 15°dH (German standard), which is too low for 250+ ppm water and badly undersized for IE hardness levels.
What happens when the softener is underset: calcium deposits build up on the heater element (reducing heating efficiency and eventually triggering F24 codes), in the spray arms (blocking nozzles, reducing wash performance), and on glassware (the cloudy etched-glass film customers complain about). Descaling with Miele-branded descaling agent every 6 months is the right maintenance, but the real fix is adjusting the water-softener setting to 25°dH or 30°dH for LA/OC/Ventura water (and 35-40°dH for IE) and refilling salt every 2-3 months instead of the default 4-6, every 6-8 weeks in the IE.
On every Miele dishwasher service call, we verify: current water-softener setting vs. local hardness (TDS meter test, 30 seconds), salt reservoir level, rinse aid dosing setting, and whether descaling is overdue. Adjusting these takes no time and parts and prevents the next service call 6 months out. We also recommend a salt refill schedule to the owner so they know when to top it up.

Miele dishwasher repair, common questions
What does F11 mean?
Drainage fault. Filter combination blocked (free cleanup, fixes 50%), drain pump impeller broken ($185-$285), non-return valve jammed (free cleanup), drain hose kinked. Full decoder table above. Power cycle clears transient F11; persistent F11 needs service.
F24, dishes coming out cold
Heater relay error. Relay on control board (most common), wiring harness, or heating element open-circuit. Heating element tests 20-30 ohms good. On G 7000 the heater relay is board-mounted = control board replacement $580-$820 if relay is the cause. Element alone $285-$420.
F52 after a cycle
Excess foam. Wrong detergent, regular dish soap, combi tablets without Combi Tablet Program activated, or AutoDos + manual detergent double-dose. Fix: power cycle, activate Combi Tablet Program if using tablets, don't combine AutoDos with manual. No parts needed.
F79, Miele won't start
Electrical supply fault. In LA luxury kitchens, often Lutron Caseta dimmer on shared or adjacent circuit interferes with Miele control. Fixes: confirm dedicated 20A circuit, move/remove dimmer, install line filter. Once isolated, F79 doesn't recur.
F600 or F601 on my G 7000 AutoDos
AutoDos dispensing fault. Reseat PowerDisk (40% resolve free), replace near-empty PowerDisk, clean dispensing outlet, test AutoDos motor ($245-$340). We diagnose before ordering.
How much does Miele dishwasher repair cost?
Diagnostic $89, waived with repair. Common: drain pump $185-$285, circulation pump $385-$540, AquaStop valve $245-$345, heater $285-$420, control board $580-$820. Full pricing table above.
How fast can you come out?
Same-day for calls before 1 PM weekday inside coverage. Malibu, Hidden Hills, Pacific Palisades get next-morning priority. For a leaking dishwasher with AquaStop triggered, call and tell us, we rearrange routing.
Is Miele Professional the same as the Miele residential dishwashers you service?
No, different product scope, different service path. Miele Professional is Miele's commercial foodservice division (commercial dishwashers, commercial laundry, commercial lab + medical equipment). If you have a Miele commercial dishwasher at a restaurant, dental office, veterinary clinic, or laboratory with "Miele Professional" branding, that unit goes through the Miele Professional factory-authorized commercial service network. Our team services the Miele residential dishwasher line, G 5000 Discovery, G 7000 AutoDos, Futura, integrated panel-ready, which shares the Miele & Cie. KG parent (Gütersloh) but uses a distinct residential service path with residential parts channels and residential warranty routing.
