Coyote service
Coyote's RapidSear infrared and lit-knob electronics are what we see fail.
When a Coyote grill fails at an LA home, our techs at Same Day Appliance Repair trace it to a few patterns: an ignition electrode out on one zone, the RapidSear infrared burner failing on an S-Series grill while the main burners still cook, an LED-lit knob or interior light out on its own circuit, or a salt-corroded burner on a coastal install. These are the C-Series and S-Series built-ins sitting in BBQ islands across the five counties, and coastal salt sets the corrosion clock. $89 outdoor diagnostic, waived with repair. BHGS #A49573, EPA 608 Universal certified (#1346255700410), BBB Accredited.
Coyote Outdoor Living is an American outdoor kitchen brand that lands as mid-premium in our SoCal territory. Owners choose Coyote for the built-in look and the S-Series features, the RapidSear infrared burner, the illuminated control knobs, and the interior grill lights, at a price below the ultra-premium built-ins. That mix of gas hardware and lit electronics is exactly what shapes our Coyote service: we keep the burner-and-ignition diagnosis separate from the LED-and-wiring diagnosis so each gets fixed correctly.
Our techs service the Coyote gas lineup: the value C-Series (model codes like C3C30, C3C34, and the C3CH, C3CL, and C3CO built-in variants) and the S-Series (C3SL30, C3SL36, C3SL42) with the RapidSear infrared burner and lit knobs. Widths run 30, 36, 42, and 50 inches, in natural gas and liquid propane.

Series and architecture
Coyote series and what fails on each.
Coyote gas grills split into two lines. The C-Series is the value built-in, and the S-Series adds the RapidSear infrared burner plus lit electronics. We identify by the full model code before ordering, because the S-Series carries parts the C-Series does not.
C-Series built-in grills
The value Coyote built-in. Standard tube burners, electronic ignition, sized across the lineup, for example C3C30 and C3C34, plus the C3CH36, C3CL36, C3CL42, and C3CO50 built-in variants. Common C-Series failures are ignition electrode wear, burner corrosion on coastal installs, and valve seizure after seasonal inactivity.
S-Series grills (RapidSear infrared, lit knobs)
The S-Series (C3SL30, C3SL36, C3SL42) is the step-up line. It adds a RapidSear infrared burner for high-heat searing, illuminated control knobs, and interior grill lights. Two service realities follow: the RapidSear infrared burner runs hotter and fails earlier than the tube burners, and the lit knobs and interior lights are an electrical circuit separate from the gas system. We diagnose those two systems independently.
RapidSear infrared burner
The S-Series RapidSear burner is a high-heat infrared searing burner. It cycles harder than the main burners and fails earlier, usually the ceramic element or the ignition feeding it. When a Coyote sear zone quits while the main grill works, we diagnose the element, orifice, and ignition separately, then replace. It is a different part than a standard burner.
Ignition and lit electronics
Coyote uses electronic ignition across the line; a single dead zone is usually that burner's electrode. Separately, the S-Series illuminated knobs and interior lights run on their own LED circuit, which fails at the LED and wiring stage. Keeping the two diagnoses separate is what stops a simple light fault from being misread as a bigger problem.
Burners, grates, regulator
Burners: stainless tube burners, corrosion-prone on coastal installs, replaced per zone before a pinhole damages the manifold. Cooking grates: stainless grates that rust on the coast, replaced as a set. Regulator: low flame across zones on LP setups points at the regulator.
Common scenarios
Top Coyote repairs in our 5-county territory.
Ranked by how often our techs at Same Day Appliance Repair see them, most common first.
- Ignition electrode failure. Single zone won't light, others working. Test and replace the electrode for that burner.
- RapidSear infrared burner failure (S-Series). Sear zone dead, main grill fine. Diagnose the infrared element, orifice, and ignition, then replace.
- Lit knob or interior light out (S-Series). LED and wiring fault on the lighting circuit, separate from the gas system.
- Coastal burner corrosion. Salt-driven pinhole on Malibu and Newport Beach installs. Per-zone replacement before manifold damage.
- Valve seizure after seasonal inactivity. Knob won't turn or won't hold flame. Disassemble, clean, lubricate, occasionally replace.
- Regulator drop. Low flame across all zones on LP setups. Regulator check and replacement.
- Cooking grate corrosion. Stainless grates rust through on coastal grills. Replacement set.
- Whole-grill no-spark. Ignition module or battery and wiring on units that use one.
Real repairs
Composite stories from the route.
Four Coyote jobs typical of the past 90 days. Models, symptoms, diagnosis, time, total. Names omitted; the scenarios are what we see weekly.
Irvine, Coyote C3SL36 S-Series (2019 install)
RapidSear infrared burner would not light, main burners fine. Diagnosis: infrared element failed plus a fouled orifice. Replaced the RapidSear burner and cleared the orifice, tested the sear ignition. Total: $89 plus $210 part plus 1 hour = $359.
Beverly Hills, Coyote C3SL30 S-Series (2020 install)
Two illuminated knobs and one interior light dead; grill cooked fine. Diagnosis: LED circuit fault at the knob assembly and a failed interior light module. Replaced the affected LED components, verified the lighting circuit. Total: $89 plus $130 parts plus 1 hour = $309.
Newport Beach, Coyote C3C34 C-Series (2017 install)
One zone dead and a visible pinhole in an adjacent burner. Coastal salt at 8 years. Diagnosis: failed electrode plus an early burner pinhole. Replaced the electrode and the corroded burner before manifold damage. Total: $89 plus $240 parts plus 1.25 hours = $509.
Pasadena, Coyote C3CL42 built-in (2015 install)
Multiple issues at 10 years: a corroded burner, rusted cook grates, and a sticking valve. Did all three in one visit. Total: $89 plus $420 parts plus 1.75 hours = $719. The alternative, a replacement built-in, was well over $3,000 installed.
Scope
What we do for Coyote, and what we don't.
We service:
- C-Series built-in grills (C3C, C3CH, C3CL, C3CO model codes)
- S-Series grills (C3SL30, C3SL36, C3SL42)
- RapidSear infrared burners
- Illuminated control knobs and interior grill lights (LED circuit)
- Ignition electrodes, standard burners, cooking grates, regulators
- Natural gas and liquid propane configurations
We don't do: new grill installation (a gas-line trade); custom island or cabinetry modification (a fabrication trade); Coyote charcoal, pellet, or flat-top units are handled case by case, so call and we will tell you if it is in scope before dispatch.
If your Coyote is under manufacturer warranty, we can assess the failure and tell you whether it is warranty-eligible before any out-of-pocket work.

Why us for Coyote
What separates our Coyote service from general grill repair.
- RapidSear infrared fluency. The S-Series infrared burner fails differently than the tube burners. We diagnose the element, orifice, and ignition separately rather than swapping a whole burner on a guess.
- Gas and lit-electronics separated. The S-Series illuminated knobs and interior lights are their own circuit. We diagnose lighting faults separately so they do not get misread as a bigger problem.
- Series-aware diagnosis. C-Series and S-Series take different parts. We identify by the full model code first.
- Coastal corrosion awareness. Malibu, Newport Beach, Pacific Palisades. Salt-driven burner and electrode failure is common, and we carry the parts on those routes.
- Widely available parts. Coyote burners, electrodes, and the RapidSear infrared burner are inexpensive and fast to source, so most repairs finish quickly.
- BHGS #A49573 plus EPA 608 Universal. Verifiable with the state and the bureau.
- Same-day across LA, Orange County, Ventura. Next-day for Rancho Cucamonga and Temecula.
FAQ
Coyote grill repair questions.
What Coyote grills do you repair in Los Angeles?
The Coyote built-in gas grill lineup: the C-Series (value built-in, model codes like C3C30, C3C34, and the C3CL and C3CO built-in variants) and the S-Series (the C3SL30, C3SL36, and C3SL42, with the RapidSear infrared burner, illuminated control knobs, and interior grill lights). Our techs at Same Day Appliance Repair service both lines across all five SoCal counties, natural gas and liquid propane.
What is the RapidSear burner on my Coyote S-Series, and why does it fail differently?
The S-Series (C3SL models) includes a RapidSear infrared burner that the value C-Series does not have. Infrared burners run far hotter and cycle harder than the standard tube burners around them, so they wear out earlier, usually the ceramic element or the ignition feeding it. When a Coyote sear zone quits while the main burners work, our techs diagnose the RapidSear burner, its orifice, and its ignition separately. It is a different part and a different repair than a standard burner.
The LED-lit knobs or interior lights on my Coyote stopped working. Can you fix that?
Usually yes, and these are on a separate circuit from the gas system. The S-Series illuminated control knobs and the interior grill lights fail at the LED and wiring stage, not at the burners. Our techs diagnose the light circuit separately, so a lighting fault does not get misread as a bigger problem. These are inexpensive parts. If the grill also has an ignition or burner issue, we handle that on the same visit.
One zone on my Coyote won't light. New grill needed?
Almost never. A single dead zone with the others working is usually the ignition electrode for that burner, or a burner orifice fouled after seasons without a cover. Our techs test the electrode, the ignition, and the gas flow in sequence rather than guessing, and replace the one part that failed. Coyote parts are widely available and inexpensive, so most of these finish same-day. $89 outdoor diagnostic, waived with repair.
How long do Coyote grills last, and are parts easy to get?
With repair and maintenance, a Coyote built-in gives 12 to 18 years, longer inland than on the coast. Coyote is a mid-premium brand with widely available parts, so burners, electrodes, the RapidSear infrared burner, and the LED components are inexpensive and we often source them quickly. Salt air on coastal installs in Malibu and Newport Beach is the main limiter, and we replace corroding burners early before the manifold takes damage.
My Coyote is built into an island. Does that change the repair?
Access changes, the diagnosis does not. Our techs work the built-in C-Series and S-Series grills from the front of a BBQ island, swapping burners, electrodes, and the RapidSear infrared burner without pulling the whole grill out of the surround. On LP setups we confirm the regulator and gas line before re-firing each zone. $89 outdoor diagnostic, waived with repair.
What's your warranty on Coyote repairs?
Ninety days SDAR parts-and-labor warranty on the work we perform. Coyote carries manufacturer coverage on many grill components, so if the failure looks warranty-eligible we tell you before any out-of-pocket work and help you process the claim. BHGS #A49573, EPA 608 Universal certified, and BBB Accredited Business.
