Drive the estate streets off Alameda Padre Serra or through Hope Ranch and count the outdoor kitchens: built-in grills, side burners, outdoor refrigeration, whole covered patios plumbed for gas and water. Now try to find a Santa Barbara company that repairs them. Within about a mile of the water — the Mesa, West Beach, the harbor blocks, the lower Eastside — salt air settles on refrigerator condenser coils and corrodes them years ahead of schedule. The refrigerator runs longer to shed the same heat, the kitchen gets warmer, the electric bill creeps up, and eventually the compressor pays for all of it. Inland of the salt line, it's the water. Santa Barbara's supply is a blend — Cachuma Lake, groundwater, State Water Project deliveries, and the city's desalination plant — and it runs hard. 48-inch Wolf DF486G dual-fuel in a 1920s Spanish Revival kitchen, remodeled around the range a decade ago. The oven was reading 25°F below setpoint and one surface igniter clicked without lighting. Replaced the surface igniter electrode with an OEM Wolf part, recalibrated the oven, and verified with a thermometer at three setpoints. Done Thursday evening — two days ahead of the dinner.
Bosch's E15 means water has reached the base pan and tripped leak protection — the pump runs to protect the kitchen floor. Found a slow leak at a scale-crusted water inlet connection, cleaned up the mineral buildup, resealed the connection, dried the base pan, and reset the system. Ran two full cycles to confirm the fix. Hard water started this one, like it starts a lot of San Roque calls.
LG WT7300CW top-loader in a rental unit — property manager called on the tenant's behalf. The washer filled normally but never advanced to spin. Diagnosed a failed lid lock assembly, replaced it with an OEM part from the truck, and ran a full cycle with the tenant present before leaving.
