01, the brand

In a category where every competitor got bought, Perlick is still the same Milwaukee family that started it in 1917.

That's not brand romance, it's the practical fact that shapes everything about servicing one. Robert K. Perlick founded R. Perlick Brass Works in Milwaukee in 1917. The company is still family-owned and now run by the fifth generation, still headquartered on West Good Hope Road in a 300,000-square-foot plant, with a second facility in Monterrey, Mexico. No parent company. No conglomerate. Not Ali Group, which is the one people most often assume, because Ali Group owns much of the rest of the commercial refrigeration world.

Look at what happened to the neighbours and the point sharpens. U-Line and Marvel — Perlick's closest competitors in premium undercounter — were Middleby brands until February 2026, when 26North Partners bought a majority of that residential portfolio and renamed it Composition Brands. True Residential is the Trulaske family's, and gets misattributed to Middleby constantly. Perlick just kept building in Milwaukee.

What that means when your unit is warm at 8am: the parts channel doesn't route through a conglomerate's distribution network that's mid-reorganisation, and the product line hasn't been redesigned to fit somebody's portfolio strategy. It also means Perlick is small enough to have made an unusual support decision, which we'll come to.

02, the codes

Perlick does have fault codes — but only on some lines, and that footnote is the whole story.

This is where Perlick differs from the other hand-built brands we service. La Cornue has no error-code system at all. True Residential has no alphanumeric table on the display. Perlick genuinely does — and it's in their own residential Use & Care guide. But the table carries a footnote that decides whether any of it applies to you.

Signature Series — codes exist

The manual's table is short and honest: P1 — the thermostat probe has failed. P2 — the evaporator probe has failed. HA — the compartment has been above the high-temperature alarm setting for more than 30 minutes. LA — the same, below the low-temperature alarm. That's it. Four codes, and two of them are alarms rather than faults.

The footnote under the table reads, verbatim: "Applies to Signature Series models only."

C-Series — no codes at all

If your unit has a dial thermostat, there is no code to read and never was. The manual documents dial temperature control instead, so the cabinet is diagnosed the old way — by measurement, not by lookup. Anyone reciting a P1/P2 table at a C-Series owner is reading the wrong page of the right manual.

Wine and dual-zone — a different set

Wine and dual-zone cabinets use their own vocabulary: E1 and E2 for probes, AH1 and AL1 for max and min temperature, and OPd — which simply means a door has been open for more than a minute. That last one gets reported to us as a fault more often than anything else on the brand.

CR columns — the wide table

The 24 and 30-inch CR columns run a fuller set: P1 through P6 across the sensors, L and H series for minimum and maximum temperature, humidity codes, and a door code. More zones, more sensors, more codes.

What we won't do is invent the rest. There's no published G5 fault-code table and no documented service mode in the residential guide, so we don't pretend to either — if a company hands you a comprehensive Perlick code chart, ask which manual it came from.

03, sizes and lines

15, 24 and 30 inches wide. If someone says "18-inch Perlick," they mean the depth.

Worth being precise, because it decides what fits your opening and what part we bring.

Widths: 15″ / 24″ / 30″

That's the entire residential range. Heights are 34 inches standard and 32 inches on the ADA units, which Perlick builds in both indoor and outdoor versions.

18″ is a depth

Perlick makes a shallow-depth variant, and the Signature prefix tells you which you have: HP is standard depth, HH is shallow. So "an 18-inch Perlick" is almost always a shallow-depth 24-inch cabinet. Getting this wrong wastes a visit.

The families

G5 LUXE and G5 Series at the top, Signature Series (the HP/HH/HC/HA prefixes — HP24RS-4, HH24BS-4 and relatives), C-Series, and Project Series. G5 model numbers read differently: G5RE24SA for a refrigerator, G5WR24SA or G5WR24GA for a wine reserve.

Columns and ice

CR24 and CR30 columns, and the H50IM clear-ice maker with the H50/H80 series behind it. The ice makers carry their own — much shorter — warranty, which catches people out.

What's actually in the cabinet

Undercounter refrigerators and freezers, wine reserves, beverage centres, refrigerator and freezer drawers, beverage dispensers, mobile bars. G5 adds smart defrost, monitoring, colour-controllable LED, triple-pane glass and soft-close articulating hinges.

What Perlick doesn't make

No ranges, no ovens, no cooktops, no dishwashers, no laundry, no full-size refrigerators. The whole proposition is the cabinet under the counter. Anything else in that kitchen is another brand.

04, warranty

"Perlick has a 12-year warranty" is true of exactly one line, and probably not yours.

The terms are genuinely good. They're also line-dependent, and the twelve-year figure travels much further than it should.

Undercounter units in the HP / HH / HA / HC families built from 4 January 2021 carry six years parts and labour — or 75 months from shipment, whichever lands first. G5 LUXE matches that six years and adds a 30-day initial-quality window. Ice makers are two years. Beverage-dispensing equipment is one year.

Then the CR columns, which is where the famous number lives: three years parts and labour, six years on the sealed system, and a twelve-year sealed-system term that covers parts only — no labour. So the twelve years is real, but it is one line, one subsystem, and it doesn't pay a technician. If you have a Signature undercounter and you were told you have twelve years of cover, you were told wrong.

Two practical notes. Registration at perlick.com is required to validate coverage — worth checking before you assume. And if you go read the 2022 warranty statement yourself, be aware it contains a couple of typos where the spelled-out number and the numeral disagree; go by the product line rather than by a half-remembered phrase.

05, service channel

Perlick's residential tech support runs through Parts Town — which explains a lot.

Here's the unusual thing we promised. Perlick outsources residential technical service to Parts Town. Not a rumour — the official technical-service contact address sits on the partstown.com domain, with a dedicated line on 844-411-8050. Perlick's own customer service is 800-558-5592. It also explains why the most complete public Perlick code documentation lives on Parts Town's site rather than Perlick's.

There's no public authorized-servicer locator for the residential line, only a dealer locator; in practice warranty work routes through the dealer or distributor that sold the unit. So if you're in warranty — six years on that undercounter, remember — start there. That's the honest advice and it costs us the job.

We're independent, not factory-authorized, and we say so before you ask. Where we're useful is out-of-warranty cabinets, second-owner units in houses that changed hands, bar builds where the original dealer has moved on, and the calls where you'd like someone this week. BHGS #A49573, and our name is on the invoice.

06, coverage

Perlick service across Greater Los Angeles.

Perlick lives where the home bar is the point: Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Manhattan Beach, plus the newer Hidden Hills and Calabasas builds and the Newport and Laguna outdoor kitchens. It's common for one house to have three of them — a wine reserve in the pantry, a beverage centre in the bar, a drawer set by the pool — bought at different times, from different series, and for only one to be the problem. Tell us which room.

Call (424) 325-0520 with the series and model off the plate, and the code if there is one. The series decides everything on this brand: whether codes exist at all, which warranty tier you're in, and whether the part is a stock item or a special order.

07, FAQ

Perlick residential repair, common questions.

Is the Perlick in my bar the same as the Perlick in a restaurant?

Same company, different line — and unlike most brands in this category, the company behind it hasn't changed hands. Perlick has been family-owned since 1917, founded in Milwaukee by Robert K. Perlick as R. Perlick Brass Works, and it's now run by the fifth generation of the family. It is not owned by Ali Group or anyone else — no parent company, no acquisition on record. That's genuinely unusual: nearly every competitor in premium undercounter refrigeration has been absorbed by a conglomerate, and several changed hands again as recently as February 2026. Perlick didn't. The commercial side builds back-bar and beverage systems for venues; the residential side builds the undercounter and column refrigeration in your home bar. Same Milwaukee plant, same build language, different product and — importantly — different service channel. Our commercial Perlick work lives on the Perlick commercial refrigeration page.

What error code is my Perlick showing?

Depends entirely on which line you own, and this is where most pages get Perlick wrong. Signature Series models do have fault codes. From Perlick's own residential Use & Care guide: P1 means the thermostat probe has failed, P2 means the evaporator probe has failed, HA means the compartment has been above the high-temperature alarm setting for more than 30 minutes, and LA is the same for the low-temperature alarm. The manual carries an explicit footnote on that table: it applies to Signature Series models only. So if you have a C-Series with a dial thermostat, there are no codes at all — the manual just documents dial temperature control, and diagnosis is by symptom. Wine and dual-zone units use a different set again (E1, E2, AH1, AL1, and OPd for a door left open), and the CR columns use a wider table (P1P6 for sensors, L/H for min and max temp). Tell us the series and the code and we'll know what we're bringing.

What sizes does Perlick residential actually come in?

Widths are 15, 24 and 30 inches. That's the whole range. Heights are 34 inches standard and 32 inches for the ADA units. One thing worth getting right, because it causes real confusion when people are ordering parts or measuring an opening: 18 inches is a depth, not a width — Perlick makes a shallow-depth variant, and the Signature prefixes encode it (HP is standard depth, HH is shallow depth). So an "18-inch Perlick" is almost always someone describing a shallow-depth 24-inch unit. Product families are G5 LUXE, G5 Series, Signature Series, C-Series and Project Series, plus the CR columns at 24 and 30 inches and the H50/H80 ice makers.

Does Perlick make ranges or dishwashers?

No. Perlick residential is refrigeration, ice and bar equipment — undercounter refrigerators, freezers, wine reserves, beverage centres, refrigerator and freezer drawers, beverage dispensers, mobile bars, and clear-ice makers. No ranges, no ovens, no cooktops, no dishwashers, no laundry, and no full-size refrigerators either. Perlick's whole proposition is the cabinet under the counter, not the kitchen around it. If your Perlick bar sits in a kitchen with a range in it, the range is another brand — tell us what's on its model plate when you call.

What's the Perlick warranty on a residential unit?

It depends on the line, and one number gets misquoted constantly. Undercounter units in the HP / HH / HA / HC families built from 4 January 2021 carry six years parts and labour (or 75 months from shipment, whichever comes first). G5 LUXE is the same six years parts and labour. Ice makers are two years. Beverage-dispensing equipment is one year. The CR columns are the odd one: three years parts and labour, six years on the sealed system, and then a twelve-year sealed-system term that is parts only — no labour. That last figure is where "Perlick has a 12-year warranty" comes from, and it's wrong for every undercounter unit in the range. Registration at perlick.com is required to validate coverage. Worth a warning if you're reading the PDF yourself: the 2022 statement contains a couple of typos in the spelled-out numbers, so go by the line, not by a phrase you half-remember.

Are you a Perlick authorized service company?

No, we're independent. Perlick's own residential support arrangement is worth knowing, because it surprises people: Perlick outsources residential technical service to Parts Town — the official technical-service address is on the partstown.com domain (844-411-8050), and Perlick customer service is 800-558-5592. There's no public authorized-servicer locator, only a dealer locator; in practice warranty work routes through your dealer or distributor. So if your unit is in warranty, start there — that's the honest advice. Where an independent earns the work is out-of-warranty units, second-owner units, and the calls where you want someone this week. We're BHGS #A49573, and the invoice has our name on it. Call (424) 325-0520 with the series and model off the plate.

My Perlick isn't getting cold — what's the usual cause?

The first thing we establish is whether the unit is actually failing or working as designed. Perlick's residential units run a variable-speed compressor and a trademarked RAPIDcool forced-air system, and the G5 line adds smart defrost — so a cabinet that sounds like it's running constantly may simply be modulating rather than cycling, which is what it's supposed to do. Beyond that, the honest list is short and mechanical: airflow blocked at the grille (these are undercounter units living in cabinetry, and the front grille is the only breathing they get), a condenser packed with dust in a bar that doesn't get vacuumed, a door seal that's stopped sealing, a failed probe — which on a Signature Series will actually tell you, as a P1 or P2 — or a sealed-system fault, which is where the warranty tier suddenly matters. We diagnose before quoting, and if the answer is "nothing is wrong, that's the compressor doing its job," we'll say that.

Do you service outdoor Perlick units?

Yes. The G5 line is designed and tested for indoor and outdoor use — it's UL rated for outdoor installation and carries anti-condensation technology, which matters in an LA outdoor kitchen far more than it would in a climate that isn't swinging from marine layer to 95°F in an afternoon. Outdoor undercounter work has its own page: Perlick outdoor refrigerator repair. Bar and kegerator work — draft systems, dispensers, the beer side — is covered on Perlick draft beer system repair.
