Samsung SmartThings on microwaves behaves similarly to SmartThings on Samsung ranges, common post-firmware-update pairing failures. Recovery: (1) power-cycle the microwave at the breaker for 60 seconds; (2) in the SmartThings app, remove the device completely and re-add from scratch (don't try to reconnect an existing entry); (3) confirm router broadcasts 2.4 GHz, Samsung appliances don't pair on 5 GHz-only; if your router auto-bridges, set a 2.4 GHz SSID for pairing; (4) if pairing fails after those three steps, the internal WiFi module ($180-$280 part) is the likely cause. On newer (2018+) Samsung + Dacor units, yes, Samsung acquired Dacor in 2016 and since then the two brands' parts supply chains have increasingly overlapped on mechanical components (magnetrons, turntable motors, door switches, oven temperature sensors, LED modules). For older Samsung microwaves (pre-2017), the reciprocity is thinner, Dacor service parts were a separate pre-acquisition catalog. Swap the panel. Samsung's Bespoke program (2021+) was explicitly designed around customer-swappable front panels, scratched or damaged panels replace for $220-$380 including hardware, and the underlying microwave chassis stays in place. That's one of the main Bespoke value propositions: when your kitchen aesthetic changes or a panel gets damaged, you refresh the front without replacing the whole appliance. Grill (on select ME-series OTR + combi units) adds a ceramic heating element above the cavity for direct radiant grilling, distinct from a standard microwave, essentially a separate-element broiler inside a microwave cavity. Sensor Cook uses a humidity sensor to detect steam release from food and auto-adjust cook time, drift common at 5-8 years ($140-$220 sensor replacement). Dual Cook (microwave + grill simultaneously) is a firmware mode that combines both elements, if Dual Cook fails while individual modes still work, it's typically firmware requiring a power-cycle reset, not a hardware issue.
