No code showing? That's normal on Frigidaire. Many basic and older models with an LED-bar or no alphanumeric display simply won't drain and never show a code. Frigidaire's own not-draining guidance sends those owners to the exact same checks. So a missing code isn't a mystery — work the list below.
Don't confuse i30 with a drain code. i30 is a leak/flood warning — water in the base pan trips the float — not a drain clog. It can be set off downstream by a drain backup, but the code itself means a leak. If you're seeing i30, that's a different diagnosis.
03 · The causes, in order
Five causes, most common first.
1. Clogged glass trap or filter (i40)
Food soil and glass grit pack the glass trap and filter area until the drain slows or stops. On removable-filter models, twist it out and rinse; on glass-trap models, clean the trap in place — remove visible debris, don't disassemble it.
2. Drain hose — kink or clog
Check behind the unit for a crushed or kinked hose and confirm the required high loop before it drops to the drain. A low loop lets sink water siphon back and pool.
3. Disposal knockout plug (new install)
A new garbage disposal ships with a solid plug sealing the dishwasher drain port. If it wasn't punched out, the dishwasher can't drain — the answer when a Frigidaire stops draining right after disposal work.
4. Blocked air gap (common in California)
Many California kitchens use an air gap — the chrome cap on the counter — to meet the plumbing code's backflow rule. It clogs and backs water into the dishwasher. Clearing it is a two-minute fix.
5. Failed drain pump
When the whole path is clear and water still stands (or i20 returns), the drain pump has usually failed or its check valve is stuck. Needs a meter and a replacement part.

Five safe steps before you call.
- Scoop the standing water with a cup and sponge so you can reach the trap.
- Clean the glass trap / filter. Remove visible food and glass; only twist out the filter if your model has a removable one, and don't disassemble a fixed glass trap.
- Check the drain hose and high loop. Straighten any kink and confirm the hose loops up high before dropping to the drain.
- Run the garbage disposal with water, and if it's a new disposal, confirm the knockout plug was removed.
- Clear the air gap. Pop the chrome cap and clean it out. Use only dishwasher detergent, never dish soap.
Where to stop: trap/filter, hose, disposal, air gap, and a 30-second power-cycle are all safe. Don't remove the drain pump or open the control yourself, don't force a non-removable trap, and mind the broken glass. If water still stands after these steps, it's the pump or the control — our job.
