Hestan Outdoor splits across three burner configurations within each size class. The configuration determines flame flexibility versus searing power. We identify by serial number first, not just model badge.
GABR (All Trellis Burners)
No infrared sear burner. Pure Trellis Burner™ cooking experience for owners who want maximum flame flexibility. Trellis burners run from low simmer to high heat. Sizes: GABR30, GABR36, GABR42. Available in natural gas (-NG) and liquid propane (-LP) variants.
GMBR (Sear plus Trellis hybrid)
One Trellis burner is replaced with a ceramic infrared sear burner. The most popular Hestan configuration. Combines Trellis flexibility with high-temp searing capability. Sizes: GMBR30, GMBR36, GMBR42. The GMBR36 puts out 89,000 total BTU (2 Trellis at 25,000 each plus IR sear at 25,000 plus IR top at 14,000). GMBR42 reaches 100,000+ BTU with three Trellis plus IR sear plus IR top.
GSBR (All Sear Burners)
All infrared ceramic sear burners. No Trellis burners. High-temp searing focus, less flame flexibility but more searing power across the full grill surface. Sizes: GSBR30, GSBR36, GSBR42.
AGCK-SB Sear Burner Conversion Kit
If you have a GABR and later want sear capability, the AGCK-SB Sear Burner Conversion Kit allows authorized installation of a sear burner replacing one Trellis. Effectively converts a GABR to a GMBR configuration in the field. Faster and cheaper than buying a new grill. We do these installs.

What's the difference between GABR, GMBR, and GSBR?
GABR is All Trellis Burners (no infrared sear). GMBR is Sear plus Trellis hybrid (one IR sear replaces one Trellis, the most popular configuration). GSBR is All Sear Burners (all infrared, no Trellis). The Trellis Burner is Hestan's flexible flame burner, runs from low simmer to high heat. The Sear Burner is high-temp ceramic infrared for searing thick cuts. GMBR gives you both options in one grill.
Can I add sear capability to my GABR (all Trellis) Hestan?
Yes. Hestan offers the AGCK-SB Sear Burner Conversion Kit. We install it: removes one Trellis burner, installs a ceramic IR sear burner in that position. Effectively converts your GABR to a GMBR configuration. Total $770 installed (kit plus labor). Faster and cheaper than buying a new grill if all you wanted was the sear option.
How long do Hestan Trellis burners last?
321 stainless steel construction with 3rd-party 500-hour testing. Inland installs (Calabasas, Bel Air, Hidden Hills) commonly reach 12 to 18 years. Coastal installs (Malibu, Newport Beach, Pacific Palisades) typically 10 to 15 years before salt-driven pinhole forces replacement. Longer life than 304-stainless competitors in our field experience.
The hot surface igniter on my Hestan failed. Same part for Trellis and Sear?
Yes. Hestan OEM 006096 is the hot surface (glow) igniter used on both Trellis and Sear burners. Universal across configurations. Some shops order separate parts for each burner type unnecessarily. We order the correct universal part first time and carry it on the van.
My Hestan came in a specific color. Can I match replacement panel parts?
Yes. Hestan Outdoor is available in 9 color options. Color-matched stainless trim panels and accessories are available through Hestan customer care. Does my built-in Hestan need an insulated jacket?
