Test button and reset, LG's way.
Confirm it's on
Hold the Ice On/Off button for 3 to 5 seconds until "Ice On" shows, or check the physical switch on the left side of the ice maker. An accidentally-off maker is a common no-ice cause.
Force a harvest with the Test button
Press the Test button and hold about 3 seconds until the tray or arms turn. Some LG models have a visible button; others use a small pinhole you reach with a straightened paperclip. If it cycles but no water arrives, the valve is the issue; if nothing moves, it's the ice maker.
Full reset
Remove the ice bin, gently shake the ice maker up and down, replace the bin, then turn the refrigerator off for 30 seconds and back on. Allow 4 to 6 hours for the first ice. On Craft Ice models (round, slow-melt ice), unplug for about 10 minutes and then allow up to 24 hours.
03 · Why an LG fridge ice maker stops
The causes, water-first.
Clogged water filter (most common)
Good for about six months; past that, flow drops and ice tapers off then stops. Replacing an overdue filter is the single most common fix.
Freezer not cold enough
LG wants the freezer below 19°F (ideally -4°F) to cycle the maker. A warm freezer — from a door left ajar, a dirty condenser, or a cooling fault — stops ice production and is worth ruling out early.
Closed supply, kinked line, or frozen fill tube
A partly-closed shutoff, a kinked line, or a fill tube frozen into a plug all cut off water to the mold. Confirm the supply and thaw the fill tube gently.
Water inlet valve or ice maker assembly
When water is available but the mold never fills, the inlet valve has failed; when the mechanism won't cycle on a Test-button press, the ice maker assembly is the fault. Both are tech diagnoses and replacements.

Run these before calling anyone.
- Change the water filter if it's older than six months.
- Check the freezer temperature — it should be below 19°F, ideally -4°F. Fix a warm freezer first.
- Confirm the supply — shutoff valve open, line not kinked — and thaw a frozen fill tube gently.
- Confirm the ice maker is on (Ice On/Off held 3–5 seconds) and run the Test button to force a harvest.
- Do the full reset if needed (shake, power off 30 seconds, wait 4–6 hours; Craft Ice: unplug 10 minutes, wait up to 24 hours).

My LG makes water but no ice — what's wrong?
