Two LG-specific things to know.
Frost first. A frost-free LG runs a defrost cycle that periodically melts frost off the evaporator coil. 03 · Why an LG freezer won't freeze
The causes, in the order our techs check them.
Dirty condenser coils (check first)
Coils caked in dust can't shed heat, so the freezer slowly loses its ability to hold 0°F. The most common homeowner-fixable cause, and worse in an LA summer.
Defrost system iced over
A failed defrost heater, sensor, or control lets frost build on the evaporator until air can't pass. The tell is a thick, returning sheet of frost on the back panel. Tech repair.
Evaporator fan
Circulates cold air over the coil through the freezer. If it fails or frost jams it, the freezer warms even though the compressor runs. Tech repair.
Door seal / blocked vents
A worn gasket or packed food blocking the interior vents lets the freezer warm. Both are worth checking before assuming a part.
Start relay / linear compressor / sealed system

04 · What you can safely check
Try these before the food is at risk.
- Vacuum the condenser coils behind the rear or under a front kick-plate. This alone fixes a lot of gradual not-freezing cases.
- Check the door seal closes fully and nothing's holding the door ajar.
- Confirm the temperature setting is cold enough and the interior vents aren't blocked by packed food.
- Give it 24 hours after any temperature change or a big grocery load before judging, and note your model and purchase date in case the compressor warranty applies.
